and Charles Erhardt who jointly initiated their chemical business
during 1849 named Charles Pfizer & Co. from the building located at
the crossing of Harrison Avenue and Bartlett Street in Williamsburg,
Brooklyn. They began with production of anti-parasitic called
Santonin which gave them instant success. However, the production of
Citric Acid actually gave thrust to Pfizer’s growth during 1880s
which led to them to procure properties for expanding their
laboratories and factory set-ups on the block bounded by Bartlett
Street, Harrison Avenue, Gerry Street and Flushing Avenue. Pfizer
established its basic administrative headquarters at 81, Maiden Lane
in Manhattan.
Pfizer Incorporated today manufactures various pharmaceutical
medications and has the annual product marketing to the tune of $3
billion which ranks the fourth largest in the United States of
America as per the 2003 statistics. The company today employs 38,000
