Diflucan is the branded medicine formulated by the world’s
largest pharmaceutical corporation, Pfizer Inc. using the
generic drug Fluconazole as active ingredient. The medicine is
designed, developed and manufactured as the first of a new
subclass of synthetic Triazole antifungal agents made available
as tablets for oral administration, as powder for oral
suspension and as the sterile solution for intravenous use in

Basically the generic drug Fluconazole is a white crystalline
solid which is slightly soluble in water and saline. The branded
Diflucan tablets contain 50mg, 100mg, 150mg or 200mg of basic
drug Fluconazole along with some other inactive pharmaceutical
ingredients such as: microcrystalline cellulose, dibasic calcium
phosphate anhydrous, povidone iodine, croscarmellose sodium,
FD&C Red no.40 aluminum lake dye and magnesium stearate.
However, the ingredients vary in the powder suspension and
intravenous formulations.
Diflucan-Fluconazole is mainly used for treating fungal
infections called candidiasis which is also known as thrush or
yeast infections in common medical terminology. Such infections
include vaginal infections, throat infections as well as fungal
infections elsewhere in the body for example infections of
urinary tract, peritonitis which is inflammation of the
abdominal linings, as well as for treating pneumonia.
Diflucan-Fluconazole is also widely prescribed for guarding
